ANKLE FUSION

When patients suffer from ankle arthritis and this affects their ability to enjoy their daily activities, surgical options are available.  An ankle fusion is the historic gold standard procedure to alleviate symptoms of ankle arthritis.  This procedure involves fusing together the tibia and talus.  This does take away motion of the ankle joint but is excellent to relieve pain.  Patients are able to continue doing all of their normal activities after they have recovered but with significantly less pain than before.

At Dr. Chad Kennedy Orthopedic Surgery our we focus on orthopedic repair and reconstruction surgeries for the whole musculoskeletal system, from repairing complex bone fractures to decompressing damaged nerves.

Once a patient’s condition or injury has been diagnosed, we will discuss all treatment options. Depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s individual situation, these can include medicine, rehabilitation, nonsurgical injections and procedures, immobilization, and surgery.
